Karnala Sanctuary sees 60,000 tourists in 2023

Nestled on the Mumbai-Goa highway, Karnala Sanctuary has become a haven for bird enthusiasts and nature lovers alike, attracting a staggering 60,000 tourists in the past year. Renowned for its diverse bird population, this sanctuary has evolved into a must-visit destination, reminiscent of the serene charm found in Lonavala.
The sanctuary boasts an altitude similar to that of Karnala Fort, offering a perpetual cool breeze that provides respite to visitors along the bustling Mumbai-Goa highway. Notably, the influx of tourists has been particularly notable around Karnala Fort, which, similar to Lonavala, stands majestically at a considerable height.
Karnala Sanctuary's allure lies in the harmonious convergence of nature, fresh air, and tranquillity. The sanctuary hosts a rich biodiversity, featuring two types of Bane, along with an impressive array of bird species. In total, there are approximately 135 species of endemic birds and 38 species of migratory birds that call Karnala Sanctuary home.
