KDMC announces ‘No Tax Hike’ in its 2025-26 budget

Dr Indu Rani Jakhar, commissioner of Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) announced ‘No Tax Hike’ while presenting a total outlay of Rs 3,361 as budget for 2025-26.
Speaking during the budget presentation, Dr Jakhar emphasised that the civic corporations focus will remain towards improving basic amenities, well maintained roads, healthcare, education, and sanitation.
She further said, an estimate of Rs600 crore is expected from property tax collections, while Rs101 crore is projected from water bill recoveries. Additionally, Rs483.83 crore will be received through government subsidies, including GST and stamp duty in the civic body’s treasury, while Rs787.83 crore is allocated for development projects under various government schemes.
Healthcare remains a key priority, with Rs53.40 crore allocated for new medical facilities. A 30-bed maternity ward has been established in Shaktidham, Kalyan, while NICU and PICU units have been set up at Shastri Nagar General Hospital in Dombivli. Plans are also underway for a multi-specialty hospital at Kailash Garden, Kalyan.
“Significant investments in infrastructure will be seen in the coming days, with Rs30 crore set aside for road repairs across the city”, she said. Parks and public spaces too will be upgraded, with Rs17 crore allocated for the maintenance of 65 parks and 17 grounds. A well-equipped garden is being developed at Mouje-Barave, and an autism-friendly park has been proposed.
Towards the education department, Rs 19.41 has been allotted for municipal schools repairs and upgrades, including painting, furniture, and facility improvements. Rs3 crore initiative will introduce solar-powered robotics, coding, and artificial intelligence laboratories for students.
Towards the welfare of women and children, 16 scooty vehicles will be provided to the women’s police force in DCP Zone-3 for safety measures. “The corporation also plans to build a hostel for working women and start a legal counselling centre for women. A provision of Rs14.16 crore has been made to support these initiatives”, said Dr Jakhar.
To enhance cleanliness and waste management, the municipal corporation has introduced mechanized road cleaning with the addition of four power sweeper vehicles. The waste collection system will also see changes, ensuring stricter quality control. In line with the 100-day action plan, financial provisions have been made for municipal employees' welfare, with Rs80 crore allocated for employee benefits, recruitment, and essential service improvements.
Focused on civic development projects, including modernising public amenities and strengthening sanitation efforts. A "Constitution Theme-Based Waiting Room" is set to be constructed in the municipal building for both employees and citizens.
