In a proactive move to ensure timely completion of key development projects, Municipal Commissioner Dr. Indu Rani Jakhar of Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) conducted an extensive inspection tour of several ongoing projects in the Kalyan Dombivli area on the first day of the New Year. Accompanied by concerned officials, Dr. Jakhar visited critical infrastructure sites including the elevated road from Bhavani Chowk to Vithalwadi Station in Kalyan, Shakti Dham Hospital, and water tank projects at Katemanivali and Tisgaon.

One of the key highlights of the inspection was the 30-bed maternity ward at Shakti Dham in Kalyan (East). The facility, managed by Ms. Western Health Care Consultancy, provides essential maternity services, including normal deliveries and cesarean sections, free of charge. The outpatient department began operations on December 2, 2024, and the inpatient services started on December 9, 2024. During her visit, Dr. Jakhar interacted with patients and instructed the concerned departments to expedite the completion of construction work at the site. She also emphasized the need to install a notice board at the entrance of the maternity ward for better communication.

Dr. Jakhar also reviewed the progress of the 10 water tanks under construction in Kalyan Dombivli as part of the Amrit Abhiyan initiative, a joint venture between the Central and State Governments. The water tanks, each with a capacity of 1.75 MLD, will ensure uninterrupted water supply to Chinchpada, Katemanivali, and Tisgaon once completed. The Commissioner expressed satisfaction with the progress made on the project and encouraged the concerned officials to continue their efforts.

The inspection also included a visit to the solid waste management project in Old Dombivli, set up on reserved municipal land as a pilot project. Dr. Jakhar addressed concerns raised by local residents, assuring them that the project would not pose any health hazards and would contribute to the production of fertilizer from processed waste, benefiting the community.

After the inspections, Dr. Jakhar briefed the media about the tour's objectives, emphasizing the removal of obstacles in ongoing development projects to ensure smooth progress. She highlighted that 90% of the road works in Dombivli had already been approved and were underway, promising better roads for residents in the near future. She also mentioned ongoing efforts, in collaboration with ward officers, to address hawker-related issues, particularly in Dombivli East.

Additionally, the Municipal Commissioner inspected the work at the Naval Museum on the Durgadi Bay coast in Kalyan West, urging officials to complete the project as soon as possible.

The inspection tour was attended by Additional Commissioner Yogesh Godse, City Engineer Anita Pardeshi, Deputy Commissioner, and other senior officials of the Municipal Corporation.
