Her statement came during a meeting held on 19th December at her office with representatives of the third caste community.

The meeting was organized by Deputy Commissioner of the Social Development Department, Sanjay Jadhav, on the initiative of Dr. Jakhar. It was attended by Deputy Commissioner Swati Deshpande Kulkarni, Medical Health Officer Dr. Deepa Shukla, Social Development Officer Prashant Gavankar, and District Icon of the transgender community, Nita Kene, President of Kinnar Asmita Sanstha, along with other community representatives.

During the meeting, Dr. Jakhar listened to the concerns of the community, which expressed the need for support in becoming self-reliant. In response, she assured that training programs would be offered through Light House, and the Municipal Corporation would facilitate access to self-help groups and government schemes. One key challenge highlighted was the community’s lack of Aadhaar cards, which hindered their participation in government schemes. Dr. Jakhar assured her support in helping them obtain Aadhaar cards.

The Commissioner also mentioned that the Municipal Corporation had previously distributed voter ID cards to the third caste community during elections, a gesture that was greatly appreciated by the attendees. Furthermore, Sanjay Jadhav informed that the Municipal Corporation has become the first to implement the Maharashtra Government's Third Caste Policy, and a Kinnar Festival will soon be organized at the Municipal Corporation's theatre to celebrate and raise awareness about the community.
