KDMC commissioner directs joint action against hawkers near railway station

Kalyan: In a bid to enhance the transportation network and alleviate traffic congestion ahead of upcoming festivals, Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) Commissioner Dr. Indurani Jakhar has issued directives for coordinated efforts among government agencies. This decision was reached during a meeting convened at the Standing Committee Hall of the KDMC on Thursday, 18th July.

Key stakeholders including Thane Deputy Commissioner of Police Dr. Vinay Kumar Rathod, Circle-3 Deputy Commissioner of Police Sachin Gunjal, and officials from various departments such as Municipal City Engineer Anita Pardeshi were present at the meeting.

Dr. Indurani Jakhar instructed officials to conduct a survey of illegal rickshaw stands within the municipal area next week and to take necessary actions to ease traffic congestion. Immediate measures were also mandated, including the removal of unauthorized hoardings and road encroachments by the Municipal Encroachment Department. The Municipal Commissioner emphasized on the relocation of obstructive poles and transformers by the MSEB and Electricity Department to facilitate smoother traffic flow on Shilphata road.

Furthermore, the Transport Department was directed to enforce restrictions on heavy vehicle entry into the municipal area within a week. To address congestion near the railway station, joint teams comprising local police, RTO, city transport, and municipal authorities will operate from early morning to late evening, implementing targeted actions between 6 am to 11 am.

Dr. Indurani Jakhar stressed the enforcement of parking regulations and cleanliness of skywalks, which will remain accessible from 6 am to 10 pm daily. Additionally, strict implementation of one-way routes from Shivaji Chowk to Mohammad Ali Chowk, along with no-entry regulations, was emphasized.

Prior to this year's public Ganeshotsav, the Commissioner directed a joint inspection by city engineers, executive engineers, and police at the immersion site to ensure timely provision of necessary facilities.
