KDMC inaugurates innovative toilet facility for women

A new, state-of-the-art facility dedicated to women’s hygiene and safety was inaugurated by the Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation at Kapote Parking Lot, Kalyan Railway Station. The innovative toilet facility, named the Woloo Women's Powder Room, was launched with the aim of making the lives of women more comfortable in the city.

The opening ceremony was graced by MP Dr. Shrikant Eknath Shinde, MLA Sulabha Gaikwad, and MLA Rajesh More. The initiative was conceptualized by Dr. Indu Rani Jakhar, the Commissioner of Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation, and aims to cater to women’s hygiene, personal care, and safety.

The Woloo Powder Room has been designed to provide a modern, well-equipped environment with a focus on cleanliness and women’s safety. This facility includes four smart washrooms, a baby care room, a changing room, a sanitary pad vending machine, and a feeding room.

Additionally, the room has an internet operating system to monitor hygiene standards, ensuring a clean and safe environment for all users.

The Woloo Powder Room has earned the prestigious Global Star Toilet rating for its high standards of hygiene. A mobile app has also been introduced, allowing users to locate approximately 40,000 clean Woloo Women's Powder Rooms across India. After registering on the app, users can access detailed information about the available facilities.

Speaking during the occasion, Dr. Indu Rani Jakhar, appreciated the efforts of KDMC City Engineer Anita Pardeshi, Executive Engineer Rohini Lokre, and Deputy Engineer Yogesh Gotekar for their significant contributions in bringing this modern facility to life.

“The inauguration marks a milestone in the city’s efforts to create better and more accessible public facilities for women”, she said.
