Free Physiotherapy and Therapy Services for Disabled Individuals Now Accessible in Kalyan Dombivli

Kalyan: In a significant step towards supporting persons with disabilities, the Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) has launched a new free-of-charge physiotherapy and multidisciplinary therapy facility. This initiative, aimed at benefiting approximately 5,500 registered individuals with disabilities, marks the first time such services have been offered by the Municipal Corporation.

Municipal Commissioner Dr. Indu Rani Jakhar, recognizing the need for accessible care, approved the tender issued by the Social Development Department. The facility will be managed by Aadhaar Rehabilitated Services and will be available to disabled and mentally retarded individuals registered with KDMC.

Located on the ground floor of Mahila Kalyan Kendra Vastu, next to the 3/C Ward Office, the facility will be operational for the next three years, with an estimated expenditure of Rs. 4.00 crore. According to Sanjay Jadhav, Deputy Commissioner of the Social Development Department, this comprehensive centre will offer a wide range of free services, including:

Medical and Specialized Consultations: orthopaedic, neurological, ayurvedic, and homeopathic consultations.

Therapies: physiotherapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech therapy, and interventional learning activities.

Additional Support: psychological counselling, yoga and meditation, and personalized caregiver training.

This new facility will eliminate the need for citizens with disabilities to travel outside the Kalyan-Dombivli region to Thane or Mumbai for treatment. The initiative is set to improve the quality of life for disabled individuals, making treatment more accessible and enhancing their overall well-being.

The program aims to empower the disabled community, helping them lead more dynamic and fulfilling lives within the city.
