In a significant initiative aimed at promoting cleanliness and environmental awareness, the Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) conducted an all-round cleanliness campaign titled "Swachh Diwali Shubh Diwali" under the guidance of Commissioner and Administrator Dr. Indu Rani Jakhar. The drive took place at the Kalyan station premises from 10 PM to 6 AM, involving a collaborative effort from various officials and local citizens.

Dr. Jakhar, alongside Deputy Commissioner Atul Patil, Assistant Commissioner Priti Gade, Chief Executive Officer of Smart City Prahlad Rode, Executive Engineer Rohini Lokre, and several other KDMC officials, oversaw the comprehensive cleanliness operation. A total of 75 sweepers, along with 3 sanitation inspectors and sanitation officers from the solid waste management department, participated in the campaign. Employees from the Smart City project also lent their support to the initiative.

The cleanliness drive utilized advanced equipment, including power sweepers, dumpers, dust mitigation vehicles, and hourglasses, to ensure thorough cleaning of key areas. The station premises, Rukminibai Hospital, and Kalyan Bus Station were meticulously cleaned, resulting in the collection of approximately 4 tons of waste.

During the campaign, KDMC officials emphasized the importance of maintaining cleanliness in the community and encouraged citizens to take an oath for a clean and cracker-free Diwali. This initiative is part of KDMC’s ongoing efforts to foster a cleaner environment and promote responsible celebration practices among residents.
