In a significant move, the Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) has taken possession of the Borgaonkar Wadi parking lot due to an outstanding payment of Rs. 1,28,02,440 owed by the contractor, Mr. Samarth Enterprises. The action, initiated on Wednesday, 15th January. The action was taken following the direction of Municipal Commissioner Dr. Indu Rani Jakhar and the supervision of Additional Commissioner Yogesh Godse, Deputy Commissioner of Property Department Ramesh Misal, and other officials including Superintendent Jairam Shinde and Clerk Prashant Dhiwar.
The Borgaonkar Wadi parking lot, located near Kalyan Railway Station, was leased to Mr. Samarth Enterprises on a "Pay and Park" basis for a period of three years, as per a work order issued on 16th November 2023. Initially, the contractor paid the first three months' rent amounting to Rs. 59,20,976/-, but failed to make subsequent payments as per the terms of the lease agreement. Despite repeated notices from the Municipal Corporation, the outstanding dues were not settled.
An inspection by the Property Department on August 29, 2024, revealed that the basement of the parking lot was being used for parking, with about 1000 two-wheelers parked, yet the contractor was not paying the due rent. This led to a significant financial loss for the Municipal Corporation.
As a result, the agreement with Mr. Samarth Enterprises was terminated, and the security deposit and earnest money deposited by the contractor have been confiscated. Additionally, Mr. Samarth Enterprises has been blacklisted and is now prohibited from conducting business with any other authority.
