The Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) has taken possession of the Dilip Kapote multi-storey car parking lot near Kalyan (West) Railway Station due to an outstanding amount of Rs. 1 crore 88 lakh 11 thousand 168. The parking lot, which was leased to M/s. Kumar Enterprises and Shri Gurudutt Enterprises for a three-year period starting February 16, 2024, had defaulted on the rent payments.

The contract, which required the contractors to pay a rent of Rs. 94 lakh 5 thousand 584 for the first three months, saw a major payment default between May 16, 2024, and November 15, 2024. Despite repeated notices from KDMC regarding violations of the lease agreement, including the non-payment of dues, the contractors failed to settle the outstanding amount.

On Thursday evening, under the guidance of KDMC Commissioner Dr. Indu Rani Jakhar, Additional Commissioner Yogesh Godse, and Deputy Commissioner of Property Department Ramesh Misal, a team from the Municipal Corporation, along with security personnel, went to seize control of the parking lot. However, female employees of the contractor opposed the move. The situation was swiftly handled by the Municipal Corporation security and female police personnel from Mahatma Phule Police Station, who detained the individuals.

After conducting a panchnama, the Municipal Corporation, with the assistance of the police, took control of the parking lot. The contractor has now been blacklisted by KDMC, and a directive has been issued prohibiting them from conducting any further business with municipal authorities.
