KDMC to revamp schools with Rs. 20 crore fund

Kalyan: In a significant move to elevate the educational standards and modernize facilities across municipal schools, Municipal Commissioner Dr. Indu Rani Jakhar of Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) has approved a special fund of Rs. 20 crore. This initiative aims to renovate and enhance the quality of education in all schools under the Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation.

The approved fund will support a range of improvements, including repairs, additional classrooms, and new furniture across various schools. Specific projects include:

School Repairs: Comprehensive repairs in each ward to maintain infrastructure quality.

Painting: Curriculum-based murals to create a stimulating learning environment.

Classroom Expansion: Construction of additional classrooms on the first floor of the reserved plot at Mauje Umbharni.

Model School Reconstruction: Redevelopment of three schools into model institutions as part of a government scheme.

Furniture Provision: Upgrading furniture across all municipal schools.

Dr. Jakhar has directed the release of 10 tenders through the education department to facilitate these upgrades. Work will commence soon after the tenders are awarded and work orders are issued.

Additionally, 120 classrooms in 21 municipal schools will be digitized with the installation of smart boards and computer sets. The introduction of animated curriculum content aims to enhance student engagement and learning efficiency. Following the government decision of August 21, 2024, CCTV systems will also be installed in municipal schools to ensure security and safety.
