The Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) has taken a major step toward sustainability by launching its first fully solar-powered school in Patharli, Dombivli.
Acharya Bhise Guruji School (KDMC School No. 62) now operates entirely on renewable energy, powered by a four-kilowatt solar system.
This initiative, funded through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) contributions, is part of KDMC’s larger vision to make all civic-run schools energy efficient.
The corporation plans to extend solar installations to 59 more schools in the coming months. To achieve this, KDMC is actively seeking financial assistance from businesses, builders, and NGOs.
In addition to schools, KDMC is driving citywide solar adoption by mandating solar power systems in new buildings and investing in large-scale solar projects. These efforts aim to reduce dependency on conventional electricity and promote a cleaner, greener environment.
KDMC’s solar initiative has also received national recognition for its commitment to renewable energy and sustainability. By integrating solar power into educational institutions and urban infrastructure, the civic body is paving the way for a more eco-friendly and self-sufficient future for Kalyan-Dombivli.
