Late Shantaram Posha Bhopi Udyan, located adjacent to Ganesh Talav in Sector 18A, Nerul (W) and one of the oldest gardens in the area, will soon undergo a makeover. The long-awaited renovation of the garden is set to begin, as confirmed by the authorities. Currently, the garden is in a poor condition, with mud puddles, garbage accumulation, uneven land, pest growth, broken gates, and a lack of security.

The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has awarded the contract for the renovation of the garden, which covers an area of 1,850 sq.m, to Jai Bhavani Constructions. Meanwhile, R.S. Construction has been assigned the maintenance work.

A supervisor from R.S. Construction said, "We are working to improve the condition of the garden by collecting the garbage and clearing the waste. The entire beautification process will take about 3-4 months."

An official from NMMC stated, "Currently, civic work to divert rainwater into the stormwater channels is underway. The project will cost Rs. 4.5 lakhs, after which other beautification work will be carried out."

Manasvi Sawant, a Nerul resident, said, "This is one of the oldest talavs and holds great significance for us Nerulkars, as the immersion of Lord Ganpati's idols takes place here every year. It's good to know that the garden surrounding this talav will soon be renovated. Once the work is completed, we can come for evening walks and bring our kids here”.
