Ace striker Lester Mascarenhas notched up a fine hat-trick, which helped Mount Carmel (Bandra) record a comfortable 5-0 win against Immaculate Conception ‘C’ (Borivli) in a Men’s Open match of the 44th Willingdon Catholic Gymkhana Annual Rink Football Tournament 2024, being played under floodlights at the WCG courts.

Amir Sayyed and Arif Qureshi netted a goal each to complete the winning tally.

Meanwhile, in a close encounter Our Lady of Gloria ‘A’ (Byculla) snatched  a hard fought 3-2 victory against Our Lady of Dolours (Wadala). Calvin Vaz, Joshua Jadhav and Pratik Patil scored a goal each for the winners. Tyson Patel and Silvester Serrao reduced the margin of the loss with a goal each for the losing side.

In the third match, St Blaise ‘A’ (Amboli) enjoyed a fruitful outing by getting the better of Holy Cross (Kurla) 2-1. The Amboli outfit was better organized and enjoyed more ball possession. They also had more chances, and converted two through Harold Fernandes and Dustin D'Costa to secure the win as Aditya Shinde struck for Holy Cross.

Earlier in the Men’s 40+ age group St Joseph's (Umerkhadi) showed good team work and ball possession as they outplayed St Anne's (Mahim) 5-1. The star of St. Joseph’s win was Dominic Alphonso who found the back of the net twice with immaculate precision. While teammates Benjamin Rodrigues, Joseph Cardoz, and Bonnie Fernandes chipped in with one goal each to complete the winning tally. On the other hand Valerian Fernandes scored the consolation goal for St Anne's.

In another match in the same age group, St Anthony’s (Dadar) defeated Spartans FC 3-1. Revilino Fernandes, Agnelo Lobo and Godfrey D’Souza scored a goal each for the winners. Ram Sharma found the net for Spartans.
