CM Devendra Fadnavis launches solar agriculture feeder project 2.0
Solar-powered villages are being developed across Maharashtra to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply to farmers during the daytime. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis expressed confidence that the adoption of green energy will empower the state's farmers to spearhead a second green revolution.
At an event held at Sahyadri Guest House in Mumbai, the Chief Minister inaugurated solar agriculture feeder projects in Umbratha (Washim district) and Narangwadi (Dharashiv district) via video conferencing. Senior government officials, including Chief Secretary Sujata Saunik and Additional Chief Secretaries from various departments, were present for the launch.
The Chief Minister highlighted the transformative potential of the Solar Agriculture Feeder Scheme, which aims to provide farmers with sustainable and cost-free electricity during the day. Currently, Maharashtra supplies 16,000 MW of electricity to farmers, and the shift to solar energy for all feeders, initiated two years ago, is being rolled out in phases.
Farmers from Umbratha and Narangwadi participated virtually in the program.
