In celebration of the 76th Republic Day, citizen groups and environmental activists will unite to promote a fresh vision of freedom from garbage by hosting a massive mangrove cleanup drive. This initiative, organized by the Environment Life Foundation, will take place on Sunday, January 26th from 7:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. near the Shri Bamandev Underpass, next to TS Chanakya in Seawoods (W), Navi Mumbai.

This cleanup drive marks the 232nd such initiative by the Environment Life Foundation, and it is supported by the Mangrove Foundation and the Rotary Club of Bombay Bayview.

Numerous volunteers, including school and college students from the NSS groups, as well as various citizens, social groups, and eminent personalities, will participate in the event, which will see them join hands to protect coastal biodiversity.

The National Service Scheme (NSS) teams from SIES Nerul, DLLE teams from SIES Nerul, NSS teams from SCOE Kharghar, and various other local organizations and foundations are expected to volunteer for the cleanup effort.

Dharmesh Barai, Founder of the Environment Life Foundation, shared that the foundation has successfully removed 750 tons of trash from the coastal corridors of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) through the 231 previous mangrove cleanup drives.

This monumental effort, made possible by over 90,000 citizens, has significantly contributed to the restoration of mangrove habitats and the preservation of aquatic and wildlife.

Barai reaffirmed his commitment to environmental protection, he said, "We will continue to take all possible steps to make our environment clean and green." He encouraged citizens and civic officers alike to join the cleanup drive in large numbers to help maintain the cleanliness of Navi Mumbai's coastal areas.
