In a bid to promote environmental sustainability, the Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation (MBMC) is launching a special eco-friendly Maghi Ganeshotsav campaign titled Bappa Majha Shaducha. This initiative aims to encourage the use of Ganesh idols made from shadu clay, which is environmentally friendly, in contrast to the traditional idols made of Plaster of Paris that contribute to water pollution.
The campaign will kick off soon, with the goal of safeguarding the marine ecosystem and preventing pollution in natural lakes. The MBMC is committed to implementing the ban on Plaster of Paris idols, in compliance with government and Honourable High Court orders.
To actively engage citizens and create awareness about this important cause, the Municipal Corporation will hold a seminar on Thursday, January 16, at 5:30 p.m. at Appasaheb Dharmadhikari Hall.
The seminar will cover various aspects of the Bappa Majha Shaducha initiative, including the distribution of Shadu soil, training, sales centres, idol collection centres, and immersion planning. A comprehensive policy will also be formulated based on suggestions from citizens, environmental experts, idol makers, and other stakeholders. The progress of the policy will be reviewed monthly.
MBMC Commissioner and Administrator Sanjay Shripatrao Katkar emphasized that this initiative seeks to bridge the gap between devotion to Lord Ganesha and environmental preservation. He called on citizens to actively participate in the campaign and support the efforts of the Municipal Corporation in creating a pollution-free and green world.
The MBMC urges all citizens to join hands in celebrating an eco-friendly Ganeshotsav and contributing to environmental conservation.
