No tax hike announced

The Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation (MBMC) has presented a budget of Rs. 2,694 crores for the fiscal year 2025-26, marking an increase of Rs. 396 crores from the previous year. The budget, which includes a balance of Rs. 84 lakhs, was accepted by the Commissioner and Administrator Sanjay Katkar, who emphasized that there will be no increase in taxes for residents.

In his address, Commissioner Katkar described the budget as “civic service-oriented”, focusing on enhancing public services and infrastructure. The administration aims to boost revenue through the taxation of newly developed properties and by renting out municipal facilities, including newly constructed buildings, halls, and auditoriums.

Key initiatives outlined in the budget include the completion of solar water supply projects and underground sewerage schemes, as well as prioritizing improvements in parks, health services, transportation, and education.

Notably, provisions have been made for the establishment of a 500-bed modern hospital and a dialysis centre at Mira Road, aimed at enhancing healthcare facilities in the region.

Commissioner Katkar assured residents that the absence of a tax hike means no additional financial burden on citizens.
