Angered by the derogatory remarks on the Agri community by BJP candidate Mahesh Baldi, the Agri community members have decided to hold a protest march on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at the Uran Police Station. The community members have demanded a public apology from Baldi for his remarks, which they say has hurted their sentiments.

Mahesh Baldi, who is contesting in the Uran Assembly Constituency, has been accused of repeatedly using insulting words about the Agri community. During the 2024 election campaign, Baldi made controversial statements about Agri women, which caused a stir. On October 29, 2024, at a public meeting held on the occasion of his nomination filing, Baldi allegedly insulted the community once again. Specifically, he referred to the DB Patil monument, which holds great religious and cultural significance for the Agri community, as "Adani Airport”, a comment that has been interpreted as an intentional insult to the community and its revered figure, DB Patil.

In response, the Akhil Agari Samaj Parishad, the apex body of the Agri society, sent a letter of protest to Mahesh Baldi on November 1, 2024, demanding a public apology. However, as of now, no such apology has been forthcoming.

Sudhakar Patil, president of the Uran Samajik Sanstha and a prominent Agri leader, led the call for the march, which was scheduled for 11:00 AM on November 12. Patil urged community members to gather in large numbers at the Kotnaka entrance of Uran city before proceeding to the Uran Police Station.
