Mumbai Indians (MI) spoiled Royal Challengers Bengaluru's (RCB) homecoming at the Chinnaswamy stadium, with a thrilling four-wicket win in a royale battle between two TATA Women's Premier League (WPL) champions teams that was played on Friday night. MI have now leapfrogged Delhi Capitals into second place on the points table with four points as RCB still lead the charts.

Chasing 168 for a win, MI captain Harmanpreet Kaur led from the front with her first fifty plus score this season after Nat Sciver-Brunt's had set the tone earlier with a quick-fire 42 during the chase. Player-of-the-match Amanjot Kaur, who earlier took 3 for 22 with the ball, shone with the bat too after the dismissal of her skipper by Georgia Wareham in the 18th over (that ended a promising 62-run stand for the fifth wicket).

Needing 22 of the last 12 balls Amanjot's two sixes in the penultimate over off her Punjab team mate Kanika Ahuja to change the complexion of the game during her unbeaten 27-ball 34. With two needed off the last two deliveries, teenager G Kamalini carved one through the covers to sign off a memorable victory for the maiden edition champions for the second win in three games. MI have now won four of their six games against RCB.

Earlier, put in to bat RCB skipper Smriti Mandhana provided a blazing start during her fiery 13-ball 26 which included four boundaries and one massive six down the ground, before being dismissed by Shabnim Ismail. A flurry of wickets at the other end though had RCB reeling at 57 for 4 in the eighth over. Australian all-rounder Ellyse Perry scintillating innings  and Richa Ghosh 28 ensured RCB’s recovery during their fifty runs alliance for the fifth wicket, before the later was castled by Amanjot Kaur in the 14th over. RCB soon lost the dangerous Georgia Wareham (6) who were 108/5 with six overs to go. Kaur soon dismissed the dangerous Georgia Wareham for six.  Perry however brought up her fifty with a four and a huge six over long-on, and single-handedly powered the home side with 167 for 7 during the course of her 81 runs after 20 overs, 45 runs came off the last four overs.

But MI had no answer to Perry. She brought up a 30-ball 50 with a glorious four through cover, celebrated it with a huge six over long-on, and single-handedly powered the home side with 167/7 after 20 overs with 45 runs coming off the last four overs.
