Minister Ravindra Chavan launches Swachh Bharat Mission cleanliness campaign in Dombivli

PWD Minister Ravindra Chavan emphasized the collective effort required to clean our city and surroundings by actively participating in the Swachh Bharat Mission. Speaking at the launch of the cleanliness campaign in the creek area of Kumbharkhan Pada, Dombivli (W), he urged everyone to contribute to the mission. The government has scheduled a cleanliness fortnight from September 18, 2024, to October 2, 2024, to enhance the municipal area’s cleanliness.

The event saw the presence of Additional Commissioner Harshal Gaikwad, former Municipal Member Vikas Mhatre, Deputy Commissioner Atul Patil, Vijaykumar Dwase, and other officials. Students from NSS and local citizens also participated. The attendees took a cleanliness oath and enjoyed a street play highlighting the importance of cleanliness.

Since 2014, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Swachh Bharat Mission has led nationwide awareness campaigns. As part of this initiative, Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation has launched its local campaign post-Anant Chaturdashi, focusing on cleaning Ganesh Ghat and surrounding areas.

During the event, Minister Ravindra Chavan, along with Municipal Commissioner Dr. Indu Rani Jakhar and Solid Waste Management Department employees, conducted a cleaning drive in the Kumbharkhanpada Ganeshghat area. They also planted indigenous trees under the Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam initiative.

The campaign started at Durgadi Ganesh Ghat, Kalyan (West), with a cleanliness oath led by Municipal Commissioner Dr. Indu Rani Jakhar. The Kalyan- Dombivli Municipal Corporation is organizing various activities during this fortnight to raise public awareness about cleanliness. Dr. Indu Rani Jakhar urged everyone to register their participation and support the movement.

Deputy Commissioner Atul Patil introduced the program at both locations. The event was attended by Dr. Prashant Patil, the brand ambassador of the Municipal Corporation's cleanliness campaign, Additional Commissioner Harshal Gaikwad, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Vijaykumar Dwase, and other officials and employees.
