The newly constructed Civil Court building in Mira-Bhayandar will be inaugurated on March 8 by Supreme Court Justice Abhay Oak. Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and district guardian minister Eknath Shinde will also attend. Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik made this announcement.
The court building, constructed on a reserved plot in Ghodbunder Survey No. 233, was intended to ease the burden on Thane District Court and provide better judicial access to Mira-Bhayandar residents.
The construction began in 2013, and after years of planning and execution, the court is finally set to serve the legal needs of the city’s growing population.
With Mira-Bhayandar’s population reaching 1.8 million, residents currently have to travel 25 kilometers to Thane for legal matters, with nearly 50% of Thane District Court’s judicial workload coming from Mira-Bhayandar.
To save citizens from long travel and financial strain, MLA and Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik led efforts to establish administrative and judicial offices in the city.
