In preparation for the 2024 Assembly Elections, a comprehensive voter awareness campaign is underway in the Mira Bhayander constituency, led by the SVEEP team under the guidance of Mira Bhayander Municipal Corporation. The initiative, aimed at encouraging voter participation, is set to reach households through home visits by a dedicated team of Booth Level Officers (BLOs), Asha workers, Anganwadi sevikas, and safai karamcharis.

The awareness program, spearheaded by Mr. Sanjay Shripatrao Katkar, the Municipal Commissioner, focuses on increasing voter turnout and educating the public about their democratic responsibilities. The team has already begun distributing voter slips received from the District Office to ensure that every voter is informed and prepared for Election Day on November 20, 2024.

In addition to the home visits, the campaign has reached out to voters through various mediums, including hoardings, stickers on bells and gas cylinders, jingles, and IEC electric vans that circulate the message to vote. Activities at schools, such as prabhat pheri, street plays, group songs, and competitions like rangoli and painting, have further helped raise awareness among younger generations. Special efforts are being made to reach out to differently-abled voters and senior citizens, with visits to senior citizen recreation centres, gardens, and jogging areas.

As part of the effort, messages urging voters to cast their ballots have been shared at key locations such as police stations and gas agencies in Bhayander West and Mira Road.

On the ground, the team of BLOs, Asha workers, anganwadi sevikas, and safai karamcharis have conducted meetings with Election Decision Officers to strategize for higher voter turnout. Each member of the team is visiting voters’ homes, explaining the importance of voting, and motivating them to participate in the upcoming elections.
