Announces Rs. 37 Crore allocation

Navi Mumbai:  MLA Manda Mhatre conducted an inspection tour of the old storm water pumping station located in Sector-8, Vashi, alongside municipal officials. The pumping station, originally constructed by CIDCO, is approximately 35 to 40 years old and is currently in a dilapidated state, outdated and unsafe.

Recognizing the urgent need for the upgraded facility, MLA Manda Mhatre announced that Rs. 37 crores would be allocated for the construction of a new water pumping station at the site, following the demolition of the existing structure. The new facility will address the critical issue of water accumulation during heavy rains, which has been a persistent problem for residents of Vashi.

The proposed development includes the complete reconstruction of the storm water pumping station, ensuring that the new pump station is equipped with modern, efficient machinery. This initiative is expected to significantly reduce the risk of water entering homes during the monsoon season, particularly in the areas of Sector-6, 7, and 8.

The inspection was attended by key municipal officials, including Executive Engineer Ajay Sankhe, Department Officer Sagar More, and other concerned officers, as well as local citizens. The announcement has been met with widespread appreciation from Vashi residents, who expressed their gratitude for MLA Mhatre's efforts in addressing this long-standing issue.
