The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) staged a protest outside the office of NMMC Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde on Friday, demanding immediate action against the teachers and contractors responsible for the tragic death of a 13-year-old student during a school trip to Imagicaa Adventure Park.
The deceased, Ayush Singh, an eighth-grade student of NMMC Ghansoli School No. 76, lost his life on Monday due to alleged negligence by school authorities and trip organizers. MNS had earlier called for the suspension of the responsible teachers, but after a delay in action, the party resorted to a sit-in demonstration.
According to MNS, the field trip violated state government regulations, which mandate that school excursions should be to educational, historical, or cultural sites.
Instead, students were taken to an amusement park in extreme heat, disregarding safety concerns. MNS city president Gajanan Kale led the protest, demanding accountability from the municipal administration. Protesters also occupied the Deputy Commissioner of Education’s office, urging immediate disciplinary measures.
MNS has vowed to continue its agitation until strict action is taken against those responsible for the negligence that led to the student’s death.
