Navi Mumbai: The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) has raised serious concerns regarding the deteriorating condition of the health system at Maasaheb Meenatai Thackeray Hospital in Nerul East. During a surprise inspection on Monday as part of the Parivartan Yatra, MNS spokesperson and City President Gajanan Kale uncovered significant issues within the hospital's operations.

Kale's visit revealed alarming levels of disrepair, with many doctors reportedly instructing patients to procure medicines from outside pharmacies. The inspection also revealed that the hospital's only sonography machine was not operational, leaving many patients confused and without essential diagnostic services. Kale questioned why patients were not referred to other municipal hospitals for necessary treatments. Additionally, the absence of a doctor for over an hour after lunch time compounded the difficulties faced by patients, with reports indicating that around 150 to 200 pregnant women were left waiting for care, attended to by just two gynaecologists.

Kale criticized the municipal corporation, questioning the feasibility of plans for a super specialty hospital if they cannot adequately staff existing facilities with specialist doctors and nurses. He urged municipal officials, including Navi Mumbai Medical Officer Dr. Prashant Jawade and Additional Commissioner Sunil Pawar, to address these pressing concerns about the health system's inadequacies.
