Maharashtra, known for its rich historical and cultural heritage, is home to many significant historical and religious sites. However, several of these important landmarks have yet to be included in the national development schemes. In a key meeting held at Parliament House, MP Naresh included these heritage sites in national development works for their preservation and promotion.

The meeting, which was chaired by Magunta Reddy, focused on the development of national and religious monuments. MP Naresh Mhaske, a member of the Urban Development and Housing Department, participated in the discussions and highlighted the need for the inclusion of important Maharashtra sites, such as Raigad Fort, Shivneri Fort, Pandharpur, and Kolhapur, in future development plans.

MP Mhaske raised concerns over the inclusion of certain historical monuments in the national list, questioning why monuments associated with figures who opposed India's independence are protected. Citing the graves of British officers in Kumta, Karnataka, he questioned why places linked to colonial rulers and oppressors are considered national heritage. He called for the removal of such sites from the protected list, emphasizing that the focus should be on preserving India’s true heritage.

MP Mhaske also raised an issue regarding the restrictive rules of the Archaeological Department, which prevent development activities near protected monuments. He suggested that these regulations be reconsidered to allow for balanced development while preserving heritage.

Furthermore, he urged that the development of religious tourist sites under the PRASAD scheme (Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Augmentation Drive) should be conducted with an eco-friendly approach, focusing on waste management and local employment opportunities. Simplifying tourism policies by relaxing environmental conditions at religious sites was also proposed by MP Mhaske to boost tourism while ensuring sustainability.

The MP Mhaske called for a report on the work done by HUDCO (Housing and Urban Development Corporation) in religious and tourist places over the past decade. He pointed out that despite HUDCO's efficient work, strict rules hinder its involvement in heritage conservation and tourism development. Additionally, he sought clarification on why the successful HRIDAY Yojana (Heritage City Development and Augmentation Yojana), aimed at preserving heritage sites, was discontinued in 2019, despite its apparent success.
