MP Rajan Vichare, recently conducted a comprehensive review of the ongoing Thane Metro project. The initiative aims to alleviate the burgeoning traffic congestion in the city due to urbanization and the increasing number of vehicles.

Vichare, who has been advocating for the metro line since his tenure as an MLA, has been actively involved in pushing for the project's progress. Despite facing hurdles, including delays caused by contractor policies, Vichare's persistent efforts have been instrumental in moving the project forward.

During his recent inspection, Vichare assessed various key areas including Kapurbawdi Junction, Philosophy University, Manpada Flyover, Patlipada Junction, Suraj Water Park, Kasarvadavali, and Bhayander Pada. He also addressed concerns such as traffic congestion at Kapurbawdi and instructed authorities to take necessary measures to ensure safety and convenience for commuters.

The current status of the Thane Metro project was also outlined during the review. Package No. 11, covering the Mulund to Majiwda route, has achieved an impressive 90.98% completion rate, while Package No. 9, Garodia Nagar to Surya Nagar, stands at 87.81% completion. However, Package No. 12, Kapurbavdi to Kasarvadavali, is at 55.38% completion, indicating areas where further focus is needed.

Additionally, Vichare highlighted the progress of other metro routes, including Route No. 4A from Kasarvadavali to Gaymukh, which has reached a completion rate of 67.31%. However, the internal metro project has faced delays due to pending approval from the central government.

Looking ahead, Vichare emphasized the importance of expediting the project to meet the December 2025 target. He urged authorities to prioritize completing pending work and obtaining necessary approvals for future metro routes, including Route No. 10 from Gaymukh to Mira Bhayandar and Route No. 5 from Kapurbavdi, Thane to Bhiwandi.

With Vichare's proactive approach and continued efforts, the Thane Metro project aims to significantly enhance transportation infrastructure in the region, ultimately easing commuting challenges for residents.

Internal Metro

For this, the Municipal Corporation has prepared a DPR amounting to 10,412.61 crores and it has been submitted to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India. The state government has given approval for this project. But the internal metro project has been stalled due to the lack of approval from the central government.

Metro Route No. 10 Gaymukh to Mira Bhayander

The earliest demand was to connect Dahisar to Mira Bhayandar Metro Route No. 9 and Thane Metro 4A to connect Metro Route No. 10 from Gaymukh to Mira Bhayandar. 4,476 crore has been approved by the state government on September 6, 2019 for this metro line. This includes 4 stations namely Gaymukh Retibandar , Versova Char Phata, Amar Mehal, Shivaji Chowk Kashimira. The permission of the central government has not yet been received. 

Metro Route No. 5 Kapurbavdi , Thane to Bhiwandi

Its work is in progress and 84.13% of the work has been completed.
