Over 40 students recalled 118 elements
In a remarkable display of memory and academic excellence, over 40 students from Excellent Classes, a Mumbai-based coaching institute, have entered the India Book of Records for reciting all 118 elements of the periodic table in both forward and reverse order.
The record-breaking feat was achieved at Kohinoor City Club House, Kurla West, where the students successfully demonstrated their memorisation skills before an official adjudicator from the India Book of Records.
Ms. Kashmira Mayank Shah, the adjudicator, praised the students' achievement, she said, “We are impressed by this feat. Excellent Classes has taken a commendable initiative to train students in memory enhancement, breaking the myth that exceptional memory is an inborn trait. Memory is a skill that can be developed, and this event proves just that".
The students were mentored by Mr. Suresh Sharma, a Limca Book of Records holder and renowned memory expert, who is also a member of the Excellent Educational Trust. His innovative teaching techniques played a key role in preparing the students for this extraordinary accomplishment.
Dr. Jamil Ahmed Khan, Director of Excellent Classes, lauded the students and their mentor, saying, “Memory Guru Suresh Sharma has been an invaluable guide to our students. His unique training methods have enabled them to master the periodic table and achieve this record-breaking milestone. We take immense pride in this achievement and look forward to setting new benchmarks".
He further emphasised the importance of memory training in education, adding, “We believe that memory enhancement is a crucial skill that makes studying more effective. Our goal is to help students unlock their full potential through structured memory training, leading to improved academic performance and a stronger foundation for future success".
This achievement was possible due to focus on cognitive training in education, reinforcing the idea that memory is not just a talent but a skill that can be cultivated.
The India Book of Records adjudicator officially verified the attempt and awarded the record certificate to the institute. The organisation, affiliated with the Asia Book of Records, follows international standards in record verification and maintains strict guidelines to ensure fairness and transparency in record-setting processes.
