top-news

Security has been strengthened in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai following a social media post warning of potential riots, arson, and bomb blasts during Eid celebrations on 31 March and 1 April. The Navi Mumbai Police first received the alert via their official handle on social media platform X, prompting them to notify the Mumbai Police and other security agencies.

The post mentioned Dongri and surrounding areas, alleging that such incidents could involve illegal infiltrators from Rohingya, Bangladesh, and Pakistan. Acting on the information, Navi Mumbai Police sought further details from the user and initiated a technical investigation to trace the source of the message.

Following the alert, Mumbai Police increased security measures across the city, particularly in areas mentioned in the warning. Additional personnel from the Crime Branch, Anti-Terrorism Squad, and Special Branch have been deployed, and patrolling has been intensified. However, officials have stated that no suspicious activity has been reported so far.

Authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any unusual incidents. The Cyber Crime Cell is investigating the authenticity of the post, while security forces continue to monitor the situation closely in the run-up to Eid celebrations.
