A growing concern has emerged in Sector 26, Vashi where narcotic substances are being sold and consumed at an open plot of CIDCO near the Gami Jade Building. This vacant plot, featuring an abandoned building at one corner, has become a hotspot for illicit drug activities, attracting a network of drug dealers to the area.
The situation in Navi Mumbai, particularly in the APMC area, has worsened with increasing reports of narcotics trading. The police have previously acted against drug-related activities near Ekta Nagar slum and near Saibaba temple in Kopri village, but drug dealers have now shifted their base to this new location. The abandoned building and the high boundary wall provide an easy entry point for those involved in the illegal trade.
Residents are concerned about the potential risks associated with this location, including the possibility of accidents and other undesirable incidents. With a high volume of narcotics being consumed in the area, there is growing pressure for immediate action.
Senior Police Inspector Ajay Shinde from the APMC Police Station has assured that the police will inspect the site promptly. "The area will be inspected immediately, and action will be taken against the culprits. Additionally, we have increased patrolling in the vicinity to curb these activities," Shinde said.
