The inauguration of Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) has been rescheduled. As against the earlier date of April 17, the airport will be inaugurated in June 2025.
Adani Group chairman Gautam Adani visited the NMIA project site on March 16 to review its progress. NMIA will be inaugurated in June, Adani said.
Expressing satisfaction, Adani said the airport would add a new dimension to India’s aviation sector and cater to the growing demands of Navi Mumbai and Mumbai.
The highly anticipated project is advancing rapidly, with its inauguration scheduled for June 2025, the Adani Group confirmed.
NMIA is set to become a crucial hub for transportation and trade, benefiting not just Navi Mumbai but the entire Mumbai Metropolitan Region. Once operational, the airport will significantly enhance international connectivity and unlock new opportunities for business and economic growth.
The greenfield airport project, being developed by Navi Mumbai International Airport Ltd (NMIAL), is a 74:26 joint venture between Adani Airport Holdings Ltd and CIDCO.
"A glimpse into India's aviation future! Visited the Navi Mumbai International Airport site today—a world-class airport taking shape. Set for inauguration this June, it will redefine connectivity & growth. A true gift to India!" Adani posted on X.
The foundation stone for the project was laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in February 2018. Built at an estimated cost of Rs 16,700 crore, the airport aims to accommodate growing air traffic demand in India and ease congestion at Mumbai’s primary airport.
The facilities include a separate terminal specifically for movie stars, billionaire businessmen and prominent politicians. The VVIP terminal's development will start in FY26 and is slated to be finished by 2030.
