The sudden and untimely passing of Mrs. Varda Sharma, the Editor of Newsband, has left a profound void in the world of journalism. Mrs. Sharma, known for her dynamic and fearless approach to journalism, passed away on February 13th, leaving behind a legacy of truth, integrity, and a commitment to social causes.

Her contributions to the field of journalism, particularly in areas of civic issues, environmental advocacy, and societal welfare, have earned her respect and admiration from people across Navi Mumbai and Mumbai.

Mrs. Sharma was not just a journalist but a pillar of support to many, including freelance writers and interns, helping shape their careers with her guidance and encouragement. Her ability to bring important issues both positive and negative into the limelight through her editorial work set her apart as a beacon of truth and integrity in the media industry.

Following her passing, numerous citizens and prominent figures from various fields have come forward to pay their respects and share heartfelt condolences:

Sunil Agarwal, Founder of Save Navi Mumbai Group, expressed his sorrow, he said, “Mrs. Sharma’s relentless advocacy for environmental causes, including the preservation of flamingos and mangroves, and her commitment to the betterment of Navi Mumbai, was truly unparalleled. Her work was always unbiased, and she believed in encouraging original content, which was reflected in Newsband’s approach”.

Dharmesh Barai, Mangrove Soldier and Founder of Environment Life Foundation, remembered Mrs. Sharma fondly, “She was a great mentor and a true environmentalist. Her dedication to making Navi Mumbai more beautiful and better, while preserving its environment, will never be forgotten”.

Rtn. Bhal Shekhar Chilana, Immediate Past President of the Rotary Club of Navi Mumbai Sunrise, said, “Mrs. Sharma’s passing is a huge loss not only to journalism but also to the wider community. Her humility and dedication to noble causes set her apart. She used her platform to highlight critical issues and gave a voice to those in need”.

Mala Manshukhani, from Mumbai Grow-Younger Team, shared her memories, saying, “Her vision and dedication to journalism inspired so many of us. I had the privilege of contributing to Newsband, and her encouragement made it a platform for voices to be heard”.
