Stage silent protest against oppressive attitudes

Navi Mumbai: In a significant move, workers and office bearers of the Navi Mumbai Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) took an oath, pledging their commitment to the safety, empowerment, and dignity of women. The event, held in Nerul, also included a silent protest against the oppressive and perverse attitudes contributing to violence against women.

The protest was led by former MLA and Navi Mumbai BJP district president, Sandeep Naik. In response to recent incidents of violence against women in Badlapur, Navi Mumbai, and other parts of the state, BJP workers wore black ribbons as a symbol of their protest. Sandeep Naik administered the oath to the assembled activists and office bearers, emphasizing the need for collective efforts to ensure women's safety and empowerment.

"We strongly condemn the incidents of violence against women, which are occurring with alarming frequency," stated Sandeep Naik. "There is a pressing need to raise awareness in society to prevent such occurrences in the future. Empowerment of women requires active participation from all, starting with individual responsibility. There are numerous beneficial schemes at the central, state, and local levels designed to empower women, and it is crucial that these are effectively implemented. We are all committed to safeguarding the dignity and rights of women."

Madhuri Sutar, President of the Navi Mumbai BJP Mahila Morcha, stressed the importance of eradicating the perverse mindset that leads to the oppression of women. She called for heightened social awareness to combat these attitudes. Amit Medhkar, President of the Navi Mumbai BJP Yuva Morcha, urged everyone to initiate changes in the mindset of men and to take proactive steps in protecting mothers and sisters. Additionally, BJP General Secretary Suraj Patil highlighted the importance of fulfilling one's responsibility within society, beginning with ensuring the safety of women within one's own home.
