Navi Mumbai: With Ganeshotsav just around the corner, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has ramped up its efforts to ensure the city's roads are pothole-free. Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde has issued strict directives, urging the engineering department to expedite repairs on a war footing, with zero tolerance for delays or negligence.

Additional Commissioner and City Engineer Shirish Aradwad is leading the charge, personally overseeing the progress of repairs across various divisions. He has convened urgent meetings with all engineers to accelerate the process, ensuring that each executive engineer is accountable for the road conditions in their respective areas.

As the monsoon rains have subsided, repair work is now in full swing across the city’s major roads, internal streets, and industrial areas within the MIDC. The repairs involve the use of mastic, cold mix, and asphalt, depending on the road type. The engineering teams are under strict instructions to adhere to scientific methods for pothole repairs, with regular monitoring to ensure high standards of quality and durability.

Particular attention is being paid to the alignment of the repaired potholes with the original road surface, ensuring a seamless and level finish. Efforts are also being made to prevent the recurrence of potholes in the areas that have been fixed.

In preparation for Ganeshotsav, priority is being given to internal roads, especially those that will be used for Ganesh idol arrival and immersion processions, as well as those near public Ganeshotsav mandals.

The engineering department is leaving no stone unturned to ensure that all roads are in pristine condition before the festival begins. With Ganeshotsav just 15 days away, Dr. Shinde has emphasized the importance of maintaining stringent oversight to guarantee that every road in Navi Mumbai is well-prepared for the celebrations.

Under the vigilant supervision of Additional Commissioner and City Engineer Shirish Aradwad, the NMMC is working tirelessly to improve road conditions across the city, ensuring a safe and smooth experience for all during the festival.
