In light of the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 12 for the inauguration of several key development projects, meticulous preparations are underway, ensuring that the city sparkles to welcome PM Modi and other esteemed dignitaries.

Prime Minister Modi is set to inaugurate significant initiatives like the Sewri–Nhava Sheva Trans Harbour Link, Navi Mumbai Metro Line Project 1, Kharkopar-Uran Railway, and the launch of Mahila Sakthikaran Abhiyan.

The preparations involve a comprehensive clean-up effort by dedicated teams from Navi Mumbai, Panvel, Uran Municipal Council, MMRDA, CIDCO, and other associated government agencies. Over the past two days, employees and officers have been working tirelessly to ensure the cleanliness of the surroundings, especially the inauguration site of the Sewri–Nhava Sheva Trans Harbour Link.

The entire stretch of the Mumbai-Pune highway, Palm Beach, and Thane Belapur route has undergone polishing, creating a well-maintained route for the movement of VIPs from the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation area. Eight departmental office cleaners from Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation have been deployed for extensive cleaning from Vashi to CBD and JNPT highway.

“In the run-up to the event, major roads, including Sion-Panvel highway, JNPT road, Thane-Belapur road, Ulwe node, and the route leading from Panvel to the event venues, are being meticulously cleaned. Asphalting, pothole filling, lane marking, and divider painting are underway to ensure smooth and well-marked routes”, said an official from NMMC.

Addressing long-standing concerns, efforts are being made to rectify issues such as debris and overgrown trees along the Sion-Panvel highway and Reti Bandar to JNPT highway. Specific measures are being taken to hide any remaining dirt by using protective sheets.

To uphold the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan ideals, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation has placed signs along the Sion-Panvel highway, clarifying that maintenance and repair, as well as cleanliness, are managed by the Public Works Department. However, recognizing the importance of the Prime Minister's visit, the municipal corporation is taking extra measures to ensure the cleanliness and aesthetic appeal of Navi Mumbai, leaving a positive impression on central officials and public representatives.
