The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has been awarded two prestigious ‘SKOCH’ awards for its Efficient and Sustainable Water Management System and Cancer Care System at the 100th SKOCH Summit in New Delhi.

Dr Kailas Shinde, NMMC Commissioner received the awards in the presence of Ajay Seth, Secretary, Ministry of Finance, and Sameer Kochhar, Chairman, SKOCH Group.

The efficient and sustainable Water Management System was recognised for its 85% metered water connections, 96% bill recovery, and efforts to reuse processed water from sewage treatment plants for non-drinking purposes. Additionally, 50 million litres per day of treated water is being supplied to industries, ensuring efficient water conservation.

The Cancer Care System aims to improve early detection and treatment. Primary screenings are conducted across 26 municipal health centres, and suspected cases are referred to Tata Cancer Hospital. Over 10,000 women have been screened so far, with five confirmed cases receiving treatment. To support underprivileged patients, Nerul Hospital now offers chemotherapy services.

The SKOCH Awards recognise innovative governance and have a transparent selection process involving expert reviews and public voting. Receiving two national-level awards at once is a matter of pride for Navi Mumbai.
