Navi Mumbai Municipal School No. 36 wins district-level U-14 football tournament

Navi Mumbai: The U -14 girls' football team from Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation School No. 36, Koparkhairane gaon, has achieved a significant victory in the Navi Mumbai District Level School Football Tournament. The team demonstrated exceptional skills and determination, securing the championship by defeating several reputed schools in the competition.

The tournament, held at Vashi, saw School No. 36 overcome formidable opponents, including Rayon International School, Sanpada in the pre-quarter-final, Avalon Heights School, Vashi in the quarter-final, and St. Mary’s High School, Vashi in the semi-final. The team clinched the title by defeating St. Augustine’s School, Nerul in the final, showcasing their prowess on the football field.

This victory highlights the high standard of sports culture within Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation schools. Municipal Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde, Additional Commissioner Sunil Pawar, Deputy Commissioner of Education Sangharatna Khillare, Deputy Commissioner of Sports Abhilasha Mhatre-Patil, Navi Mumbai District Sports Officer Revappa Gurav, Education Extension Officer Sulabha Barghare, and Centre Coordinator. Pal extended their congratulations to the winning team.

The team's success follows their runner-up finish in the Under-17 girls' category at the Subroto Cup football tournament last year and their third-place finish in the district-level school sports tournament. School No. 36 is now recognized as a leader in football achievements among Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation schools.

The players received sports uniforms from the education department, and their training has been supported with regular football coaching over the past four years. The Yashwantrao Chavan Maidan, Nerul football ground was made available for practice, contributing significantly to their success.

The victorious team includes Dhanshree Jitendra Mahajan, Shejal Dattatray Kank, Vedika Ravindra Dhavale, Jagdevi Kumar Chinnarathode, Saraswati Raju Chinnirathod, Sarla Rajaram Zhankar, Arya Santosh Shinde, Shreya Vijay Shelar, Swara Bandopant Kamble, Diya Hanmant Pol, Devyani Mahadev Hirve, Tanisha Anil Wangde, Kalyani Vitthal Gore, Aradhya Rahul Bhandare, Shabana Sameer Sheikh, Shital Dilip Rathod, Anushka Santosh Jedhe, and Pranjal Kumar Nikam.

The team, along with Principal Dipali Sankhe, team guide Prashant Gadekar, head coach Dnyaneshwar Ghuge, assistant coach Ashwini Sawle, team manager Yogesh Surve, and technical assistant Kunal Koshthwar, were praised for their dedication and hard work.
