Navi Mumbai: In an effort to enhance cleanliness and promote environmental awareness, a comprehensive cleaning campaign is underway in Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) areas as part of the 'Swachhata Hi Seva' initiative. Under the guidance of Municipal Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde, significant cleaning activities have been conducted across various parks in the eight divisional office areas, emphasizing the theme 'Swabhava Swachhata, Sanskar Swachhata.'

Deputy Commissioner of the Parks Department, Dilip Nerkar, has overseen the thorough cleaning of 13 parks, engaging the public in these efforts. The campaign has witnessed enthusiastic participation from park superintendents, park assistants, sanitation workers, NSS students, senior citizens, women, and other community members, alongside gardeners and multi-purpose staff.

Notable parks that underwent cleaning in the Belapur Division include Sagarvihar Park in Sector 11 and Mango Udyan in Sector 2. In the Nerul Division, clean-up efforts were conducted in Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Udyan, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Udyan, and Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Udyan in Sector 4. Vashi Division saw similar initiatives in Minatai Thackeray Udyan and Rajiv Gandhi Joggers Park in Sector 9 and 10, respectively.

In the Koparkhairane Nature Park, over 250 citizens actively participated in the cleanliness drive. Other parks, such as Koparkhairane Udyan and Chikaneshwar Udyan, also experienced community involvement in their clean-up activities. A large turnout was reported at Central Park in Ghansoli, further underscoring community engagement in environmental initiatives. Additionally, the green belt surrounding Divagoon Lake in Airoli Division was cleaned through collective public efforts.

The municipal corporation’s solid waste management department is also contributing to the 'Swachhata Hi Seva' campaign, with plans for similar cleanliness drives in other parks in the near future. Through these efforts, the municipal authorities aim to foster a cleaner and greener environment for all residents.
