In a remarkable effort to enhance the aesthetic appeal and environmental sustainability of the Navi Mumbai Police Commissionerate, the Navi Mumbai Seva team successfully completed a beautification project on January 26, marking the 76th Republic Day. The initiative, which began on June 5, took seven months to complete and transformed the Commissionerate Office into an environmentally rich and visually engaging space.
The project culminated with a tree plantation drive at the office, attended by Deputy Commissioner Mr. Sanjay Kumar Patil and other police personnel. The beautification included vibrant Warli paintings, a plantation drive, and sustainability awareness sessions aimed at promoting cleanliness and environmental responsibility.
The initiative, which received widespread appreciation, was praised by the Commissioner of Police for the team’s dedication. The team received a letter of appreciation for their efforts in setting an exemplary standard for the community. Warli artist Sandesh Gaikwad, Seema Khurana from Rotary Club of Navi Mumbai Samaritans, and Sambedana Das Mohapatra contributed with their artistic works, further enhancing the office's ambiance.
The standout feature of the project was the plantation drive, which not only beautified the surroundings but also contributed to a healthier and more peaceful work environment by improving air quality. The initiative also included awareness sessions on the importance of environmental stewardship and community engagement.
The project was supported by Sanjay Kumar Patil, Deputy Commissioner of Police, and coordinated by Mr. Bhanudas Tathe. Dharmendra Kar of the ISR WAY Foundation, along with Hamid Khan, founder of Divya Nur Foundation and Navi Mumbai Seva’s ‘Our City Our Responsibility’ campaign, provided valuable leadership and guidance throughout the initiative.
Reflecting on the success of the project, Mr. Sanjay Kumar Patil stated, “This beautification project is a tribute to the great Maratha Warrior Shivaji Maharaj, whose leadership principles—courage, consciousness, compassion, and community—remain timeless. Through sustainability and collective responsibility, we can create spaces that inspire and elevate our communities”.
