Navi Mumbai: In a significant step towards bolstering its cybercrime response, the Navi Mumbai Police has launched a three-day Cyber Investigation and Forensics Training programme for over 500 officers.

Supported by FedEx and United Way Mumbai (UWM), the initiative focuses on equipping personnel with tools to combat digital threats, including phishing, online fraud, financial cybercrime, and social media misuse.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (HQ) Sanjaykumar Patil emphasised the growing urgency of cyber preparedness. “Cybersecurity is essential today. This training will sharpen investigation skills and promote public awareness,” he said, thanking FedEx and UWM for their support.

The training includes officers from cyber cells, detection units, crime branches, and anti-narcotics departments. It forms part of a wider public-private collaboration to enhance digital safety and community resilience. UWM has already reached over 10,000 citizens across five cities, including 5,197 individuals in Mumbai alone.

FedEx vice president Nitin Navneet Tatiwala highlighted the company’s commitment to a “digitally secure India,” while UWM CEO George Aikara lauded Navi Mumbai Police’s proactive stance.

Officials highlight that the initiative reflects a shared commitment to public safety and cybercrime prevention through cross-sector partnerships.
