Navi Mumbai project victims to see long-awaited housing regularization

Navi Mumbai: For nearly 40 years, the local project victims of Navi Mumbai have faced numerous challenges and neglect. These individuals, who sacrificed their agricultural land to make way for the development of what is now a thriving city, have long struggled with the irregular status of their homes. Their plight extended beyond housing issues, affecting their businesses, job opportunities, and access to scholarships.

MLA Manda Mhatre has been a relentless advocate for the regularization of these homes. Since her election to the Legislative Council in 2004, and her subsequent re-elections to the Belapur Legislative Assembly in 2014 and 2019, MLA Manda Mhatre has worked tirelessly on behalf of the project victims. Her efforts included raising questions in the Legislature in 2015, pressing for the creation of regulations to address the issue.

Her advocacy by writing to Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in March and July 2022. During Ganeshotsav, MLA Manda Mhatre met with the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister, where they assured her that a government ordinance would be issued soon.

“The forthcoming government ordinance will address the issue that has persisted for four decades”, said MLA Manda Mhatre.
