Navi Mumbai students shine in district-level Kabaddi competition

The district-level school kabaddi competition, jointly organised by the District Sports Officer’s Office, Thane, and the Sports and Cultural Department of Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC), was recently concluded at Dr. Samanta Vidyalaya in Turbhe.

The students of the NMMC-run Rajarshi Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj Vidyalaya, Ambedkar Nagar, Rabale, dominated the event, securing top positions across three categories.

In the Under-14 Girls' category, the school clinched first place, while in the Under-17 Boys' and Girls' categories, they achieved impressive second-place finishes.

The competition witnessed the participation of nearly 60 teams in the Under-14 category and over 80 teams in the Under-17 category from across Navi Mumbai, making the students' achievements all the more commendable.

The young athletes were praised for their sportsmanship and hard work. Special recognition was given to their coaches, Manoj Chavan and Amol Kumar Waghmare, for their unwavering guidance.

The team’s success also drew praise from several dignitaries, including former Mayor Sudhakar Sonawane, Deputy Commissioner of Sports Abhilasha Mhatre, and NMMC Sports Officer Revappa Gurav.

The Under-14 Girls' team has now qualified for the regional competition, which is set to take place on October 7 in Safale, Palghar. The team is currently undergoing rigorous practice to prepare for the event. School principals Amol Kharsamble (Secondary) and Mrs. Ranjana Vansha (Primary), along with coordinators Ramesh Teli and Avinash Jadhav, joined parents in congratulating the students.
