In a special crackdown conducted on the occasion of Holi and Dhulivandan, Navi Mumbai Traffic Police apprehended 107 drunk drivers within the jurisdiction of the Navi Mumbai Police Commissionerate.

Additionally, the Navi Mumbai Traffic police conduct routine Drunk and Drive campaigns to curb such violations. However, despite these efforts, cases of drunk driving continue to surface. Therefore, the Navi Mumbai Traffic Department has been conducting regular enforcement drives to take strict action against offenders.

A Drunk and Drive campaign was carried out on March 13 and 14 across Navi Mumbai. During the operation, traffic police caught 107 motorists driving under the influence of alcohol. All offenders were taken into custody, and legal action was initiated against them under Section 185 of the Motor Vehicles Act.

Tirupati Kakade, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Navi Mumbai, said that the Drunk and Drive campaign will continue regularly. He warned that stringent action will be taken against reckless drivers violating traffic laws in the future as well. He urged motorists to drive responsibly, avoid alcohol consumption while driving, follow traffic regulations, and cooperate with the Navi Mumbai Traffic Department to ensure safe and smooth traffic movement.

Drunk driving remains a major cause of road accidents, often leading to tragic loss of innocent lives. Despite repeated appeals from the traffic department urging motorists to avoid driving after consuming alcohol, violations continue to occur. To curb such reckless behaviour, the Navi Mumbai Traffic Police regularly conduct enforcement drives targeting drunk drivers.
