Social worker Nilesh Kachare demands immediate attention from NMMC and CIDCO

Commuters using the Sanpada bus stand, located adjacent to the Sanpada Railway Station, are expressing their frustration over the deteriorating conditions of the facility. Broken paver blocks, inadequate lighting, and damaged seating have become a common sight, raising concerns among residents, students, and workers who rely on this high-traffic zone for their daily commutes.

Local commuters have voiced their grievances, highlighting the lack of basic amenities and proper maintenance at the bus stand. “The Sanpada bus stand is facing several problems due to neglect. The station nameplate is broken, the garden remains unmaintained, and there are no public toilet or drinking water facilities. Additionally, the footpaths have been in a dilapidated state, making travel difficult for daily commuters,” stated one frequent traveller.

In response to the growing concerns, social worker Nilesh Kachare has taken the initiative to submit a letter to the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) Commissioner and the Managing Director of CIDCO, urging immediate action to address the infrastructure issues at the bus stand.

Kachare’s letter outlines several critical measures that he believes should be implemented to improve the situation:

  • Renovate the main premises of the bus station to create a safer and more welcoming environment for commuters.
  • Fix electrical lights and install proper lighting to enhance safety and visibility, especially during evening hours.
  • Upgrade the driver’s rest centre and passenger guidance centre to ensure they are well-maintained and equipped to assist travellers.
  • Provide essential public facilities such as toilets and drinking water to meet the basic needs of passengers.
  • Ensure regular cleaning, sanitation, and proper maintenance of the bus stand and its surroundings.
  • Beautify and maintain the garden area within the bus station to create a more pleasant atmosphere for commuters.
  • Implement a structured cleanliness plan to keep the station hygienic and well-maintained.
