Abhijit Bangar takes temporary charge as NMMC Chief

As anticipation builds for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's impending visit to inaugurate the Kharghar Metro project between October 15 to 17, Abhijit Bangar, who has assumed temporary charge as the Navi Mumbai Municipal Commissioner (NMMC) chief, has issued a series of directives aimed at enhancing the city's road infrastructure and overall cleanliness.

With the Prime Minister's visit on the horizon, Bangar has left no stone unturned in preparing the city to present its best face to various dignitaries from the country and the state. The key areas of focus include the improvement of road conditions, the cleanliness and beautification of road dividers, removal of grass and moss affecting murals, and the standardization of traffic barrier heights. The Commissioner has been unwavering in his call to expedite these projects.

Prominent roadways, such as Thane Belapur Marg, Palm Beach Marg, and Amar Marg, have been earmarked for special attention. Additionally, although the Sion Panvel Highway falls under the jurisdiction of the Public Works Department, Bangar has emphasized the need for follow-up actions to ensure its timely maintenance.

Bangar's directive highlights the significance of this visit as an opportunity to showcase the city's clean and beautiful image. In this regard, he has called for stricter daily city cleaning routines, the maintenance of roadside litter bins, and an increase in the number of cleaning vehicles to ensure that the city remains spotless.

He has further recommended that the park department pay special attention to clearing grass from road dividers during the rainy season and maintain their cleanliness regularly. Moreover, Bangar has urged the removal of overgrown grass beds on the main road dividers, ensuring that Navi Mumbai is in pristine condition for the Prime Minister's visit.
