NMMC Commissioner calls for strict adherence to Model Code of Conduct ahead of assembly elections

With the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly General Election 2024 officially announced, Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde has mandated the strict implementation of the Model Code of Conduct established by the Election Commission of India.

The elections are set for November 20, and preparations are in full swing to ensure compliance with the regulations.

In a special review meeting held with relevant officials of the NMMC, Dr. Shinde emphasized the need for prompt action regarding the removal of unauthorized political advertisements, such as posters, banners, and hoardings, from public areas. This initiative is critical in maintaining the integrity of the electoral process.

During the meeting, the NMMC Commissioner instructed both municipal divisions and all eight department offices to collaborate with the encroachment department to expedite the removal process.

Dr. Shinde noted that these actions should be carried out swiftly to ensure that the election environment remains orderly and compliant with the established guidelines.

The review also encompassed a detailed discussion on various activities that need to be undertaken in preparation for the elections. Key officials in attendance included Additional Commissioner Mr. Sunil Pawar, City Engineer Mr. Shirish Aardwad, Deputy Commissioner of Administration Mr. Sharad Pawar, and Deputy Commissioner of Elections Mr. Bhagwat Doifode, among others.
