NMMC disburses Rs 27.99 crore in scholarships

NMMC’s social development department has distributed scholarships amounting to Rs 27.99 crore to 36,104 students for the financial year 2024-25.
As many as 43,791 applications were received under six different categories, NMMC official said. Only 36,104 students were found eligible as per the scheme’s guidelines.
A total of ₹27.99 crore was disbursed to these students. The funds were transferred directly to the bank account of students through the Direct Benefit Transfer system.
The scholarship programme is aimed at supporting students studying from families with an annual income of less than ₹8 lakh and studying in private schools (except RTE admissions).
It has also extended financial assistance to students from project-affected families, municipal sanitation workers, backward communities, widowed/divorced women, and daily wage laborers.
Primary school students from Class 1 to 4 received ₹4,000 each, while students from Class 5 to 7 were awarded ₹6,000. Higher secondary students from Class 8 to 10 received ₹8,000, and those in Classes 11 and 12 were granted ₹9,600. Undergraduate students were provided ₹12,000, while postgraduate students received ₹16,000. Additionally, students pursuing technical or vocational training were awarded ₹8,000.
