November 25–December 4: Beautification Drive Across Navi Mumbai
The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has announced a special campaign to remove unauthorized banners and hoardings from November 25 to December 4, 2024. This drive is in response to Bombay High Court orders in Public Interest Litigation No. 155/2021, emphasizing the removal of illegal advertisements to enhance the city’s cleanliness and aesthetics.
The campaign will be carried out across all eight administrative divisions, targeting banners and hoardings installed without permits or with expired permissions. Offenders will be penalized under the Maharashtra Prevention of Defacement of Property Act, 1995, which considers unauthorized displays a hindrance to urban beautification.
Residents are encouraged to report illegal banners through:
- NMMC’s website grievance portal
- My NMMC mobile app
- WhatsApp: 8422955912
NMMC Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde has urged citizens to cooperate with the initiative, stating, “This campaign is essential to maintain Navi Mumbai’s reputation as a clean and well-maintained city. Let us work together to ensure our public spaces remain free of defacement.”
Violators have been warned of strict action and penalties to deter future offenses.
