Navi Mumbai: In a bid to enhance cleanliness and environmental awareness during Ganeshotsav, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has launched a unique initiative involving the distribution of an innovative Aarti Collection. Municipal Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde has urged citizens to celebrate this year’s Ganeshotsav in an eco-friendly, plastic-free manner, leveraging both traditional and modern media to spread this important message.

The Aarti Collection, a distinctive publication by NMMC, features traditional Aartis on one side and a series of important environmental messages on the other. This initiative aims to educate and encourage the public to adopt eco-friendly practices, including: Sanitary Waste Sorting: Proper disposal and segregation of waste, Plastic Ban: Avoiding plastic materials and opting for reusable alternatives, Nirmalya Management: Using Kalash (pot) for offerings and avoiding the use of plastic and thermocol in decorations and Shadu Idols: Preferring clay (Shadu) idols over Plaster of Paris (POP) and immersing them in artificial ponds to protect natural water sources.

The Aarti Collection was officially released by Municipal Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde, with Additional Commissioner Sunil Pawar and Deputy Commissioner of Solid Waste Management Dr. Ajay Gadade in attendance. The publication has been distributed to public Ganeshotsav organizers, housing societies, and individual citizens to promote a cleaner and greener celebration.
